Valencia, Spain

A short stay in Valencia holds some of my fondest memories of my trip so far. A lot of time spent in the cities huge public green space. An old river that ran through the city, originally planned to be converted into a highway after frequent flooding of the city, was planted out with trees by gorilla gardeners under the cover of night. It took two weeks of planting trees at night and then having them ripped out during the day before the local government gave in to the people. A public space was planned that had 10km of cycle paths, all sports fields imaginable and an enjoyable place to spend free time in all areas. I love parks and this was a standout for Valencia. Power to the people.

The old town, where I spent the majority of my time, was visually stunning. With lots of public squares and lots of little streets to explore, this place was lots of fun to hangout in. It usually comes down to having the right people around you, this was not exception, the people I met here were great. I would love to one day revisit this beautiful city.
